BGB is the first line of defence for Bangladesh. While it operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs it is a war capable organisation meant to be seconded to the Army during any conflict. BGB having over 70,000 strong force is mostly ill-equipped to fight any conventional war beyond holding rear lines. The recent exercises with the Army is telling of the serious need to focus on strengthening this first line of defence. It lacks adequete training, skilled manpower, modern weapons and advanced infrastructure to fight at a level against regional foes.

Myanmar is building a powerful air defence system to prolong their isolation. They will be a victim of their own success like North Korea.
