  1. Taking over vast chunk of land can be considered as a cake walk. Sure, a nationalistic leader who failed miserably in both economic and foreign policy areas. National jingoism does not benefit all, and that example is india. I've seen india's defense forces over last 5 years. Their capability is showing rusts. I wonder how naive can you be not to see through india's current predicament.
  2. Forget about india, they're gonna drag this mythical ''17 Billion fighter jets program'' for another 10 years with no tangible outcome. What they trying to negotiate is a seamless ToT arrangement. Getting 114 new fighter gets in next 10 years adjusted of inflations and cost over-run will bog down an already stressed IAF. Right after Galwan crisis, india might have to do with emergency air-frames from Russia. Goes to show high unavailability rate of IAF and over reliance on outside suppliers has made all of indian armed force a paper tiger. Only thing they've sharpened over the year is their incessant media falsehood and obnoxious narratives.
  3. Forgery in corona test certificates? Mir Mostafizur Rahaman | June 10, 2020 00:00:00 The detection of coronavirus infection among some Bangladeshis, who left the country on special flights to at least two countries---Japan and South Korea--- with corona negative certificates, has triggered serious concern among the government high-ups. Already, Japan has suspended flights from Dhaka after one such incident. Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen told the FE that the government is concerned over the incident. "But now we have come to know that the certificates had a validity of 72 hours only. May be that aspect was overlooked earlier", he said. The government has started taking steps to ensure stricter scrutiny of the corona testing certificates, submitted by the passengers while leaving the country availing special flights, the foreign minister also said. Four Bangladeshis were found corona positive within a couple of days after their arrival in Japan. They left Bangladesh on a special fight of Bangladesh Biman on April 30. After the incident, Japan suspended flights from Bangladesh, Mohibul Huq, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, told the FE. Terming the incident highly embarrassing and harmful to the image of the country, he said immediate steps are required to find out whether the passengers concerned carried fake corona negative certificates or they became corona positive in the natural process. "The aviation authority of Japan issued a notice announcing the restriction on flights from Bangladesh. When we inquired about it, we were told that the detection of coronavirus among four passengers from Bangladesh was the reason," he added. Some officials said in addition to airlines concerned the health section of the Japan Embassy in Dhaka also scrutinized the certificates. On May 11 last, a chartered flight of Korean Air took off from Dhaka with some Bangladeshis and Koreans on board. "We came to know that 11 of the passengers of that flight were found corona positive when they were tested in Korea," the civil aviation secretary said in a frustrated tone. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials said several rounds of discussion took place in this regard among aviation, health and foreign ministries. The law-enforcers are engaged to find out whether there was any forgery by the personnel working in the corona testing laboratories, a senior official of the foreign ministry said. When contacted, Deputy Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Nasima Sultana said there might be other aspects of the situation. There are several instances that a person, who was earlier found corona negative, was later detected as corona positive. "A test gives result of the condition of a person for that particular moment, when the test is being carried out. The condition may change." But she did not reject the possibility of forgery also. The country now has 56 Covid-19 testing laboratories, which are authorized for testing the virus infection, she added.
  4. I wonder whether IAF is serious about getting this MMRCA drama done and dusted. 2006 and still on-going. Is it me or does this tender looks more like a scheme to get access to know how of all the aircraft.
  5. Japan's contribution to Bangladesh has rather been underrated. Whereas Chinese investment are more talked about, but in recent years Japan has been doing a lot of heavy pulling when it comes to extending economic cooperation. I hope Japan continues to go with their path greater expansion of its ODA programs.
  6. ..... I would like to add few things into perspective here. Apart from drip irrigation (BD has abundant water resources), desalination ( which Bangladesh has less of a need) and high end tech manufacturing (BD is still in rudimentary stage). In terms of security ( which's israel's main export), BD's can only leverage from it unless it has to quell a larger internal security uncertainty. Even though, our Economic relations with Gulf forbids us for a formal recognition of israel, this Faustian bargain has a greater meaning to it. Because israel won't be able to provide billion dollar in remittance nor it can provide an alternate market. But trust me, its israel who will be benefited from getting a recognition from us, not the other way around. Sooner we know the dynamic here, its Bangladesh who can pull the right string.
  7. Actually this is where it complicates matter. Not many realizes that israel has so-called ''thrived'' not because of neighborly co-operation. It thrived simply because it had immense bipartisan support from outside the middle east. The country did not face significant sanctions despite its questionable policies and conflicts. Lets just say israel still enjoys has immense support, but its support base has become right wing conservatives. That's where matters can get complicated in foreign policy wise! Israel would LOVE to have a formal recognition from Bangladesh and the dividend for israel will be immense. But israel is still in security quagmire and has moderate political deadlock. Not many people knows that israel's main technology and economy lies in US, its prime strategic beneficiary. As opportunity cost for relation with israel diminishes, doors will surely open up. And this is where foreign policy balance might get thrown into a curve ball, as BD is often at the mercy of its bigger neighbors and global powers.
  8. Here's some few fun facts on Myanmar's new Kilo. S58 INS Sindhuvir was commissioned in August 1988 This submarine is one of the earlier variant of Kilo subs (877 EKM) made in Soviet Union The Sindhughosh-class submarines are very old and are riddled with problems (so far 5 incidents were registered with this class) Coming from Indian navy, this subs had dismal training and maintenance track record. With latest back to back incidents happening in 2014, where Sindhurakshak S63 exploded and sank in its own dockyard killing 18 sailors, and S59 Sindhuratna malfunctioning batteries incidents killed 2 sailors. These accidents lead to resignation of then Navy Chief Admiral DK Joshi. To this day IN is contemplating on replacing almost all the Kilo with newer Scorpene Subs from France Despite the costly acquisition, MN will have an uphill battle in maintaining this vessel And no, earlier 877 EKM cannot accommodate Club-S missile systems. Only Project 636.3 and 636.6 can carry Ashm and land attack missiles In terms of under water performance both 877 EKMs and Type-035G have similar capability. Note** BN's ex 356 and 357 Mings were also made in 1989 and later one's in early 90s.
  9. I glanced through the link. Perhaps I missed something. Anyways, here's the link. https://www.popsci.com/blog-network/eastern-arsenal/sy-400-guided-rocket-makes-tv-debut/ As for the range ..... for Kasirgas! https://www.azernews.az/nation/102564.html
  10. Truth to be told. Not many people researched the SY-400 system in question. Before any freaks out. MA is indeed looking into acquiring SY-400 systems, but questions is which one? You see there's two version of SY-400 MBRLS; one that can accommodate 12 x 300mm rockets with range of 120 km. And other one is for 2 x canister of BP-12A SRBM. The vehicle for this MBRL is modular. All in all MA will might buy the SY-400, but only the 300mm rocket artillery. Meanwhile, Turkey's T-300 Kasirga also offer KHAN SRBM alongside the TRG-300 & TRGK-300 rockets in similar modular vehicle set-up. With that said, after much deliberations and evaluations, BA went for something that can counter Chinese system on the market.
