  1. Only heavy industries should be allowed. Industries with the potential to be global leaders. Specifically more IT focused as govt wants to make Bangladesh an IT hub.
  2. Don't even get me started on those. Most facts stated are from prolly around the early 2000's. It's like all they did was search up Bangladesh and went to the wikipedia page and copy pasted stuff from there. Yet, so much fun because it's a white guy isn't it? Even though most facts stated are stuff we prolly learned in grade 5 Bangladesh studies.
  3. Trust me if Bangladesh was predominantly hindu, India would go to Hell and beyond to help us. Their politics has mostly been religion based recently and if it goes on, it'll destroy the country. Believe it or not, a unified and secular India is better for Bangladesh than a divided one.
  4. All these YouTube channel "reacting" on Bangladeshi videos is just for views and revenue. Sad to see so many Bangladeshis just jumping and hyping it up as if it's some sort of massive win for us.
  5. Let's hope the next 3 years is a dream year for the BAF. Finally, we'd be able to overcome the decades we were behind and be ahead for once.
  6. Although I am all for the expansion of the highways, it won't be as effective if bottle-necking issues aren't solved. Having a wider road just means more vehicles piling up faster at the signals and bottle-necking points. A lot of it is attributed to illegal parking and not following the rules properly. Sadly, only solution to that is the Police being more diligent and we all know how that goes.
  7. It is 100% true that Biman (the Govt) really needs to look at it's airports before buying any new planes right now. The dreamliners they got so far are more than enough to operate the new routes that they plan to take. Once more airports are built, the existing terminals are renovated and security and service is upgraded, Bangladesh can look to be an airline hub much like Dubai. Not saying it will be as successful as Dubai but a lot of Australian, Japanese, Chinese and mainly airlines to our East might prefer Bangladesh over Dubai due to it being cheaper (speculation on my part).
  8. I think the budget is gonna be bigger this time but will not be a surprising percentage increase. Govt still focusing more on the social and infrastructure sector, mainly power generation. I think more money will be allocated to construction this time around especially to the roads and communication ministry.
  9. I don't know when we will realize how important a Mayors post is for a city. Even more so now because chances are, the metrorail might become operational in the next mayor's tenure. They really need to reorganize the public transport sector and have it as a compliment to the metrorail as opposed to a substitute. Won't solve any traffic problems for the city otherwise.
  10. The more educated they are, the more they'll understand the differences between a life in Myanmar and a life in Bangladesh. Might backfire as they will be able to convince people to never leave willingly.
  11. I second the fact that non-Bangladeshi nationals have restricted access. Or else, they'll just start taking screenshots and sharing it on their FB troll pages.
  12. I agree with the fact that they are same level of traitors but just changing a law without changing the way we judge things is still the same. The powerful will walk free and you wouldn't snag more than a few low ranked ones. Same as the anti-narcotics drive if you know what I'm hinting at.
  13. Sorry for the spam but how long do I have to wait to be verified?
  14. They have their hands full with the many separatist groups acting within their borders. They have to be pretty thick in the head to even imagine waging war with another country without fixing their internal matters first. It will be like waging war on multiple fronts and I'm sure the separatists will take advantage of that fact and try to occupy as much area as possible.
  15. Should contract it out to independent people like those from Plane Spotters BD. And really really need to concentrate on their camera angles and timings of frame changes. The last Victory Day Parade video was a joke.
  16. Yeah the Rohingyas need to be repatriated. This gives us a buffer between our borders that might ease tensions for us. Also, really need to be careful about radicalization as we might be a better target for them than the Burmese.
  17. I have a feeling this ship is more of a statement vessel than anything. It's stupid to have so many assets in a vessel with minimal defensive capability. A well placed salvo in it means the loss of a dozen tanks, few hundred troops and two helis along with the ship itself.
  18. Didn't they plan for another area after that? I may be wrong but didn't they have an alternate plan for something close to the Padma bridge? As far as I remember, that place was uninhabited hence wouldn't have problems with land aquisition. I think AL's promises for the last election was also about an airport
  19. I agree completely with the need of more equipment but the situation also needs to be kept in mind. The banani case, everyone started flooding the streets as soon as it happened making it nearly impossible to reach the scene on time for the fire crews. No level of equipment is gonna be able to solve that. For the slums, they are in essence unplanned. Making the small walkways in between shanties only wide enough for one person to go through. Imagine a squad of firefighters trying to make their way through. The govt keeps throwing these people out and they keep coming back. I don't blame them tho. They need affordable housing and the govt needs to plan for that if they haven't yet
  20. The Fire Service is highly underrated in Bangladesh. Given the resources and manpower they have, they did an amazing job in the Banani incident. Sadly, us Bangladeshis enjoy criticizing people more than we enjoy applauding people for their effort
  21. Thank you!! Can't wait to be verified so that I can see all the posts.
  22. Hey my name is Nahyan and I've been following the Facebook page for years. I used to post and interact a lot on the old forum (I think it was called BDmilitary then). Good so see the forum back again.
  23. The new terminal sounds like a short term solution to Dhaka's problem. The 20 million passenger capacity may be able to handle the flow till 2030. A new airport needs to be made so that it can handle the projected passenger volume for the later years. As far as I've heard, they were supposed to build another airport on the outskirts of Dhaka. This would've helped with the traffic flow and would've enabled an easier move of industry outside Dhaka, decentralizing the city a lot.
