বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনীর প্যারা কমান্ডো, নৌবাহিনীর বিশেষায়িত ফোর্স সোয়াড্স, যুক্তরাজ্য ও যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের স্পেশাল ফোর্সের অংশগ্রহণে প্রথমবারের মত অনুষ্ঠিত হলো সন্ত্রাস ও জঙ্গীবাদ বিরোধী সম্মিলিত মহড়া ‘থান্ডার ফিস্ট’ ((EX THUNDER FIST)। ২৪ দিনব্যাপী আয়োজিত এ মহড়ায় সন্ত্রাসবাদ দমনে হোস্টেজ রেসকিউ অপারেশান, সন্দেহজনক জাহাজে সার্চ ও সিজার অপারেশান, ইও ডি ও ডেমোলিশান বিষয়ক প্রশিক্ষণ, অত্যাধুনিক অস্ত্র প্রশিক্ষণ এবং কমব্যাট মেডিকেল বিষয়ে প্রশিক্ষণ অন্তভূক্ত ছিল। বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনীর বিশেষায়িত কমান্ডো ফোর্স সোয়াড্স, সেনাবাহিনীর প্যারা কমান্ডো, যুক্তরাজ্য ও যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের স্পেশাল ফোর্সের মধ্যে পারস্পরিক বিশেষ অভিযান পরিচালনার সক্ষমতা এবং এ সংক্রান্ত  বিষয়ে পেশাগত জ্ঞান ও দক্ষতা বিনিময় ছিল এ মহড়ার প্রধান লক্ষ্য।

মহড়ার সমাপনী অনুষ্ঠান আজ মঙ্গলবার (১০-০৩-২০২০) চট্টগ্রামের পতেঙ্গায় নৌবাহিনীর বিশেষায়িত ফোর্স সোয়াডস ঘুুাটি বানৌজা নির্ভীকে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে বাংলাদেশে নিযুক্ত মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের রাষ্ট্রদূত আর্ল আর. মিলার (Earl R. Miler), সহকারী নৌবাহিনী প্রধান (অপারেশান্স) রিয়ার এডমিরাল এম শাহীন ইকবাল (Rear Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal), ঢাকায় নিযুক্ত ব্রিটিশ হাইকমিশনের ডেপুটি হাইকমিশনার জাভেদ প্যাটেল (Javed Patel) উপস্থিত ছিলেন। এছাড়া মহড়ায় অংশগ্রহণকারী যুক্তরাষ্ট্র, যুক্তরাজ্য এবং সেনা ও নৌবাহিনীর বিশেষায়িত ফোর্সের সদস্যরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। আমন্ত্রিত অতিথিগণ সফলভাবে মহড়া সম্পন্নের জন্য সংশ্লিষ্ট সকলকে আন্তরিক অভিনন্দন জানান এবং এ ধরণের মহড়ার আয়োজন সম্মিলিত সন্ত্রাস ও জঙ্গীবাদ দমনে বিশেষ ভূমিকা রাখবে বলে সকলে আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করেন।

Joint exercise ‘Thunder Fist’ ends

Participants of the ‘Ex Thunder Fist’, a military exercise to tackle terrorism and militancy, receive certificates from US Ambassador Earl R Miler and others on the closing day of the event in Patenga of Chattogram on Tuesday.

The first-ever 24-day joint military exercise ‘Ex Thunder Fist’ ended in Patenga of Chattogram on Tuesday.

The closing ceremony of the joint exercise to tackle terrorism and militancy was held at BNS NIRVIK- the special force base of Bangladesh Navy.

The Para Commando of Bangladesh Army, SWADS (Special Operations Force unit of the Bangladesh Navy), and the special forces of the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States of America (USA) took part in the exercise.

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R Miller, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) M Saheen Iqbal and Deputy High Commissioner of the UK to Dhaka Javed Patel were, among others, present on the concluding day of the exercise. The operation to rescue hostages, searching in suspected ships, scissor operation, EOD and training on demolition and ultra-modern firearms were the issues to have been done during the exercise.

The aims of the exercise were to exchange experience and knowledge about conduction of special operation among the above mentioned forces, says a press release.
