Alim
Indians fly their Russian jets way too often. I understand that they need to keep flying to maintain operational readiness but Russian engines are not purpose-built for this. If AESA radar equipped, F-16s or Gripens supported by AEW&C aircraft can wreck havoc on Indian fleet due to their superior servicability.
Kamikaze
Indian Air Force inducts Astra BVRAAM missile The Indian Air Force (IAF) is inducting the new Astra Beyond Visual Range (BVR) air-to-air missile. India is also integrating the Israeli I-Derby Extended Range missile on its Su-30MKI combat aircraft. These new missiles will help to enhance the IAF's air-to-air engagement capability. These deployments come after the Balakot strike that saw Indian aircraft cross the Line of Control with Pakistan to attack terrorist camps. A dogfight ensured between Indian and Pakistani fighter aircraft. The Pakistani aircraft were equipped with the AIM-120C-5 AMRAAM, which outranged the R-77 and MICA missiles used by India. India said its strike capability was superior to Pakistan's during the Kargil War, but this situation has since changed. To help correct this deficiency, India is procuring the European-made Meteor BVRAAM. This missile will arm India's new Rafale fighters. In addition, India is working on an improved version of Astra. This version will offer a range comparable to the Meteor's one. Astra is an all-weather beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). It is the first air-to-air missile developed by India. It features mid-course inertial guidance with terminal active radar homing. Astra is designed to be capable of engaging targets at varying ranges and altitudes allowing for engagement of both short-range targets at a distance of 20 km (12 mi) and long-range targets up to a distance of 80–110 km (50–68 mi). Astra has been integrated with Indian Air Force's Sukhoi Su-30MKI and is now integrated with the brand new Dassault Rafales. Limited series production of Astra missiles began in 2017.

Nihonjin Karatumo
I wonder whether IAF is serious about getting this MMRCA drama done and dusted. 2006 and still on-going. Is it me or does this tender looks more like a scheme to get access to know how of all the aircraft.

Forget about india, they're gonna drag this mythical ''17 Billion fighter jets program'' for another 10 years with no tangible outcome. What they trying to negotiate is a seamless ToT arrangement. Getting 114 new fighter gets in next 10 years adjusted of inflations and cost over-run will bog down an already stressed IAF. Right after Galwan crisis, india might have to do with emergency air-frames from Russia. Goes to show high unavailability rate of IAF and over reliance on outside suppliers has made all of indian armed force a paper tiger. Only thing they've sharpened over the year is their incessant media falsehood and obnoxious narratives.

India might rely on foreign suppliers but they can hold their own. Most importantly they have nationalistic leaders working for indian interest. For any country that is very imoportant. Indian defense forces will move forward because of their leaders. It might be slow and probably waste a lot of money but it is their money. So in a way they have the money as well. Taking over vast chunk of land can be considered as a cake walk. Sure, a nationalistic leader who failed miserably in both economic and foreign policy areas. National jingoism does not benefit all, and that example is india. I've seen india's defense forces over last 5 years. Their capability is showing rusts. I wonder how naive can you be not to see through india's current predicament.

I am going of topic here, Yes, you are right, their capability should have been better. But they are still considered a super power though there are serious deficiencies. They do have a voice in lot of things that goes around the world.
