Bangladesh Army uses AX-sniper rifles

The Bangladesh Army procured British-made Accuracy International AX308 sniper rifles and AX50 anti-material rifles for operational use. The two have already seen combat employment in counter-terrorism operations in Bangladesh with success.

Accuracy International made sniper rifles were first obtained through the Sri Lankan Army during the initial years of the Army’s sniper training program before the Army formally decided to purchase newer sniper rifles through competition bidding. The Army Special Forces brigade “Paracommando” uses both AX308 and AX50 precision rifles at present.

AX308 sniper rifle

The AX308 is a stand-alone 7.62×51mm NATO variant. It is chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO/.308 Winchester and has a smaller short action with a bolt diameter of 20 mm (0.79 in). The AX308 has a 20 MOA forward canted optical rail optimised for long range shooting.

AX50 anti-material rifle

The AX50 is a stand-alone .50 BMG (12.7×99mm NATO) anti-materiel rifle variant that replaced the AW50. It has a big long action with a bolt diameter of 30 mm (1.2 in).
