The Bangladesh Navy has decided to standardise a new generation of anti-ship missiles to equip its surface combatants such as corvettes, large patrol craft and fast attack craft from Western or NATO equivalent sources.
The new anti-ship missiles must have a minimum range of 25 km thus opening up door for participation of companies from Italy, Turkey and South Korea.
Bangladesh Navy has named MBDA, Aselsan, Roketsan and LIG Nex1 as those eligible to supply it with anti-ship missiles.

The Bangladesh Navy has opted to add two quadruple anti-ship missiles on its Large Patrol Craft II warships. Given the displacement of the littoral warships will be not less than 700 tonnes at full load it is likely the Navy will have enough leeway to opt for larger anti-ship missiles that were shortlisted.
