South Korea exports assault rifles to Bangladesh

South Korea’s Dasan Machineries Co Ltd scored a major export success with Bangladesh. The South Asian nation’s naval Special Forces SWADS have adopted the DSAR15 assault rifles.

An unknown number of DSAR15Ps were sold to the Bangladesh Navy for the first time. Their existence in Bangladesh was disclosed during the annual Armed Forces Day, held in November 2023 during a naval promotional video highlighting the rapid modernisation of the Bangladesh Navy.

The DSAR15P is chambered for 5.56x45mm NATO rounds and is equipped with a 410mm or 16” barrel. Its effective rate is 600 m and has a cyclic rate of fire of 650 to 970 rounds per minute. The assault rifle has a magazine capacity of 30 rounds and weights 3.7 kg. The Bangladesh Navy uses numerous South Korean-made small arms including the K2 assault rifle, K3 medium machine guns and K6 heavy machine guns.
