  1. BGB is the first line of defence for Bangladesh. While it operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs it is a war capable organisation meant to be seconded to the Army during any conflict. BGB having over 70,000 strong force is mostly ill-equipped to fight any conventional war beyond holding rear lines. The recent exercises with the Army is telling of the serious need to focus on strengthening this first line of defence. It lacks adequete training, skilled manpower, modern weapons and advanced infrastructure to fight at a level against regional foes.
  2. 02:22 PM, March 03, 2020 / LAST MODIFIED: 02:39 PM, March 03, 2020 2 including BGB man killed in Khagrachhari clash: police Star Online Report Two people including a member of Border Guard Bangladesh were killed in a clash between the para-military force and timber traders in Matiranga upazila of Khagrachhari this afternoon, police said. The clash took place when BGB members wanted to stop a timber-laden truck and were resisted by the traders, our Bandarban correspondent reports quoting Khagrachhari Additional Superintendent of Police MN Salauddin. The bodies were sent to Matiranga Upazila Health Complex.
